Launching New Brunswick’s Emerging Voices in Film
New Voices Film Lab is an immersive filmmaking experience where emerging filmmakers learn by doing, work alongside mentors, and create original films together.
About the Lab
Frictive Pictures, in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick and Bell Fibe TV1, is producing a film lab focused on inspiring and supporting new voices in filmmaking. Eight Fredericton participants will will cycle through key roles on a film set, directing, editing, camera operating, all mentored by industry professionals as they produce eight short films.
This lab is designed as a studio experience, building films through a collaborative and immersive environment. The short films produced through season 1 of the lab appeared as an Anthology series on Bell Fibe TV1 and are also available to watch here.

THE FILMS • SEASON 18 Cafes
This anthology series features eight short films, all set in the same café, telling diverse stories as lives intersect over coffee and, sometimes, tea. The films produced through Season 1 appear as the anthology series 8 Cafes on Bell Fibe TV1.
To find stories for Season 1, we issued an open call for scripts from the community. We invited New Brunswick stories that could take place in a café and received a strong response.
